Big Blue finds a cure for Second Life: The Virtual Office World

You know the hype is big when IBM copies the idea of Second-Life to, I quote,

“…help tech managers better understand the roles of businesspeople, and vice versa, players go into a virtual business unit to test their hand at ventures such as redesigning a call center, opening a brokerage account, or processing an insurance claim”

Hmmm… Apart from the corny product name “Innov8”, I am not surprised to find that dozens of companies showed interest in the product. A legal version of SL at the office would get anyone excited, don’t you think? All joking aside, while the idea might be worthwhile, I think success will hinge on how detailed the training programs can be, and also on how ritual change can be effectuated in traditional training processes.
